Modules:

Adventurous Discipleship – Experience is a critical component of spiritual formation and faith development. In this module, participants will consider how to think about their programs not just as powerful events, but as the learning lab where participants can learn the skills and mindset of spiritual formation. Questions that will be considered include what is the end that spiritual formation seeks to attain, how do individuals and groups truly learn to change, how to create an infrastructure that will both prepare and sustain the spiritual growth that is facilitated during your programs and finally, how to be a facilitative leader who compassionately and effectively brings people to crossroad life points where the important questions of life get asked. (12 hours)

A Leadership Paradox: Influencing Others by Defining Yourself – Facilitators face the leadership challenge of needing to influence people with no formal authority over them. The paradox of this dilemma is that it starts first with self-definition. This module will describe the key characteristics of effective leaders/facilitators and will explore strategies for helping those leaders develop self awareness as well as understand the impact of anxiety and the role of the facilitator’s presence in promoting sustainable change in others. (8 hours)

Ropes Course Instructor Refresher (Optional third day) – This module will review the critical skills to safely operate a ropes course program. In addition to reviewing key technical skills, participants will be brought up to date on changes and issues in the Ropes Course Industry. Topics will include: Belaying techniques, Knots and rope work, Risk management, Spotting, Element set-up and Rescues. September 21, 2008 - Tulsa, Oklahoma - Post Oak Lodge (8.5 hours)
