Modules:

Program Design and Client Consultation – The success of any program is, in part, the quality of the sequence of that program. This module will teach basic principles for assessing client needs, negotiating client expectations and designing effective programs to meet those expectations. (8 hours)

Teams for a New Generation (Short Course) – This module focuses on the changing nature of teamwork in the knowledge era, group dynamics and creating self-facilitating, self-adapting teams. (8 hours)

Risk Management for Ropes Course Directors – Safety should be the number one concern for all ropes course directors. This module provides a method for assessing and improving a program’s risk management practices. This includes staff training and documentation, policies and procedures, an overview of liability and tort law (materials designed by an attorney) and critical steps to improving a program’s safety practices. (4 hours)

Staffing the Effective Ropes Course – This module explores critical staffing issues such as selection and hiring effective staff, staff development, and staff progression policies. (4 hours)

Multiple Safety Systems – This module will review static, dynamic and z-drag systems and include variations of team haul systems. (8 hours)

Ropes Course Instructor Refresher (Optional fifth day) – This module will review the critical skills to safely operate a ropes course program. In addition to reviewing key technical skills, participants will be brought up to date on changes and issues in the Ropes Course Industry. Topics will include: Belaying techniques, Knots and rope work, Risk management, Spotting, Element set-up and Rescues. September 21, 2008 - Tulsa, Oklahoma - Post Oak Lodge (8.5 hours)
